Let me tell you a story…

What stands between success and failure, is one little thing called attitude!

Let me tell you a story…

A man sees three workers on a building site. He asks each of them the same question: “What are you doing?”

  • The first one answers – “I’m laying bricks.”
  • The second one answers – “I’m building a wall.”

So he walks up to the third worker, who looks up with a smile on his face and says: “I’m building a castle!”

This story emphasises that the third man has a clear vision, a main purpose for what he’s doing, the right attitude! However we can’t ignore that to achieve it, there are still bricks to be laid!

To succeed you need to keep the following three things in mind:

  1. You need to see “the castle”, (the goal, the vision your end result).
  2. Before you can get from where you are now to the end result, A to B. You have to decide which bricks and what walls you are going to need. (celebration)
  3. Then you have to start laying the bricks that are needed to build each and every wall, this is the action – without it, nothing happens, (foundation).

So how am I going to build my castle?

By asking yourself HOW am I going to do this – because you are looking for ways to achieve it – you immediately start to remove any blockages of negativity! You are now starting to have the right attitude, so lets work on getting you the right actions required to get your final result – your castle – your goal.

It is not about if or when, it’s all about the HOW.

  1. Think Attitude: How you can form the right attitude about yourself, your work and your priorities.
  2. Think Goals: Goal setting and how you can set your goals.
  3. Take Actions: Now you can form an execution process in order to get things done.

I don’t have a goal yet?

Do you remember Alice in Wonderland?

She asked the Cat: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to”, said the Cat.

“I don’t much care where,” said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go”, said the Cat.

Research shows us that 97% of people are walking the same path as Alice – they have not set any goals – however do not let your inaction stop you from moving forward – because each step, will take you somewhere!

Setting goals has much to offer us:

  • It brings out the best in us
  • Shows us the right path to take
  • It increases our self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Leads us to self-encouragement – the strongest force we can have.

Reasons we don’t set goals:

  • Fear
  • Lack of encouragement
  • Lack of know-how.

However without a clear direction you’ll have difficultly setting your goals.

To set goals there’s three main questions you need to ask yourself:

  1. What do I want to be, who do I need to become?
  2. Why do I want that?
  3. How will I achieve that? and connect it to my weekly/daily goals?
  4. Image result for Break it down and you’ll be able to say that your success is not a possibility but an inevitability.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What do I want to be, who do I need to become?
    • Let me think about what I want to achieve…
    • What type of mind set do I need…..
    • Who do I want to be – What does my Ideal Self look like?
  2. Why do I want that?
    • Let me think of my reasons – What are my whys?
  3. How will I achieve that?
    • I will write down in my Journal some daily and weekly goals?
    • By achieving small wins – I will achieve my goal
  4. My success is not a possibility but an inevitability

I hope you have a clearer picture of you castle – your goal – your end result. I encourage you to write it down and break it into smaller pieces. By having a strategy in place to accomplish those pieces – you’ll be able to say that: “My success is not a possibility but an inevitability“.
